Strictly Come Dancings Catherine Tyldesley has revealed that dance rehearsals are encouraging her to love her body as she gets ready for the first week in the competition.

The former Coronation Street star has been busy in rehearsals with pro dancer Johannes Radebe and admitted that the intense practice process was helping her let go of her body hang-ups and encouraging her to be more self-confident.

Ordinarily I completely shy away from having anybody looking at my body or anything like that, she told the Daily Star.

But the rehearsals weve been doing have been so much fun.

The 35-year-old continued: Within an hour of the first day, I was thinking, “I dont care what I look like, Im just going for it.” Im a sweaty mess, Im jiggling around all over the show, but youve just got to go for it.

Having lost a significant amount of weight before landing her regular role in Corrie in 2011, the actress revealed that dancing and rehearsing on Strictly was allowing her to reconnect with and love her body.

This experience is almost a celebration of your body, she said. Thats how I feel.

Ive shied away from stuff like this for so long, [so] doing this show is a huge thing for me, but at the same time its liberating.

Were glad to hear it Cath.

The actress has been using social media to give fans a sneak peak into her rehearsals with 32-year-old Johannes, who is competing with a partner for the first time this year.

With just one week until the first show (how are we there already?!), Catherine brought her four-year-old son Alfie down to rehearsals as a good luck charm, where he was swung around by the South African dancer.

Day 4… @johannesradebe finds a new partner, Cath wrote on Instagram. So cute!

Strictly Come Dancing starts Saturday 21 September at 7pm on BBC 1.
