Dannii Minogue has admitted that she almost packed in her TV career after her time as a judge on The X Factor left her woefully unhappy.

The Australian singer served as a judge on the British singing show for four years from 2007-2010, mentoring both Leon Jackson and Matt Cardle to victory in the competition.

However, Dannii, who is set to appear on The Masked Singer in her homeland of Australia in September, revealed that she was miserable while working on the British reality show.

I was not at breaking point, I was broken, Kylies little sis told Australian publication The Herald Sun.

There were a lot of people conspiring to make that happen and it brought a lot of people enjoyment to see me so under the pump.

For the star, who famously feuded with Sharon Osbourne on the shows fourth series, it all became too much to handle, saying: I get that it is a TV show, it is entertainment, there is quite a game involved with the business but you have to be fair and it just got to the point where I was so unhappy.

During one live show, Dannii broke down in tears, asking her fellow judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Cheryl to take over as she couldnt even introduce her next act.

However, while in 2019 most criticism would come from social media, Dannii revealed that having an online presence allowed her to defend herself and ultimately saved her career.

Social media giving people the chance to have their say and have their right of reply really changed everything, she said.

Had those things not happened there is no way I would have ever continued to work in the public eye.

Fortunately for us, Dannii didnt throw the towel in and will be judging the upcoming Aussie series of The Masked Singer alongside Jackie O Henderson, Dave Hughes and, um… Lindsay Lohan. Yep, that one.
