A four year-old girl has been hailed a superhero by her family for undergoing painful bone marrow donation surgery to save her baby brothers life.

Selfless Khloe Land, of Coos Bay in Oregon, will undergo the donation surgery on Monday after her brother Colton was born with no immune system in July.

Khloe was quickly found to be a perfect match for Colton, with the youngster set to wear a superhero outfit for Mondays surgery, which will see marrow removed from her back at the OHSY Doernecher Childrens Hospital in Portland.

Her mom Kayla Land told ABC: My husband and I were hoping it was our older daughter (eight year-old Krissy) because she understood and she wanted to be the one to help her little brother.

When we found it was Khloe, she was really excited at first and then fear kicked in within about 30 seconds and she broke down and told us how scared she was.

Kayla added: Khloe tells Colton all the time that shes going to save his life, so she knows that he wouldnt have a good chance of living if it wasnt for her.

But weve tried to make things as minimal as possible.

Khloe will leave hospital the same day she has surgery.
