BHOPAL: Senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday met Madhya Pradesh chief minister KamalNath on the issue of providing relief to farmers who are affected by rains and floods.
“We had a detailed discussion on the present flood situation in Madhya Pradesh. Not just the Gwalior-Chambal region and districts of Morena, Bhind, Sheopur and Ashokenagar but also Mandsaur and Neemuch,” Scindia said.
“I have clearly requested that compensation should be paid soon to farmers and survey conducted the right way,” he said. Jyotiraditya Scindia explained that time is being taken by the government for field surveys of crop damages because with continuing rains, a survey serves no purpose.
“So long as rains continue, it is not proper to conduct surveys because actual assessment cannot be done. Surveys should be conducted two to three days after rains stop. Then based on the survey and what the district collector sends, full compensation should be paid. Nothing should be deducted,” he said.
The former Union minister said that he also told chief minister Kamal Nath that compensation should be paid by insurance companies to all farmers who took policies. “The chief minister has assured me that survey will be conductOriginal Article
