NEW DELHI: Preparations for averting any adverse fallout of Ayodhya verdict on law and order in Uttar Pradesh had started almost a month back.
A three-fold preventive strategy — comprising confidence building measures through engagement with local community and religious leaders, operational strategy involving extensive foot-patrolling by the police in sensitive as well as nonsensitive areas, and active monitoring of social media for inflammatory content — was credited by UP DGP O P Singh on Saturday for “absolute peace and tranquility in the state, no untoward incident and continued normalcy” in immediate aftermath of the historic judgement.
Sources told TOI on Saturday that the home ministry was monitoring law and order and communal situation not only in UP but all over the country. Home minister Amit Shah spoke to CMs of all states soon after the verdict, seeking details of the law and order situation and asking them to take requisite steps to maintain peace and harmony. He also offered all possible help to the states if required.
