Bailable warrant against Shashi Tharoor for scorpion jibe

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has issued a bailable warrant against Congress leader Shashi Tharoor for not appearing in a criminal defamation complaint against him over his alleged “scorpion” remark referring to PM Narendra Modi.
Issuing the warrant in the sum of Rs 5,000 on Monday, a link court posted the hearing to November 27. “Neither the accused nor his counsel is present. Under these circumstances, taking a lenient view, issue bailable warrant against the accused in the sum of Rs 5,000 and notice to his surety for November 27, 2019,” said link court judge Naveen Kumar Kashyap.
