BHOPAL: Minutes after Rahul Gandhi's tweet on BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakurs remark on Nathuram Godse in the Lok Sabha, state Congress on Thursday demanded the expulsion of the first-time Parliamentarian-elected from Bhopal.
“The state Congress condemns the kind of language used by BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur in Parliament,” state PCC media department chairman Shobha Oza said. “We demand that she be expelled from her position as MP in Lok Sabha. We are appealing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Pragya Singh Thakur be expelled for the insult to Mahatma Gandhi.” Oza argued that to praise Nathuram Godse in Parliament is not less that sedition.
Former AICC president Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Thursday morning, “Terrorist Pragya calls terrorist Godse, a patriot. A sad day, in the history of Indias Parliament.”
Chief minister Kamal Nath on Wednesday had demanded that BJP take punitive action against “persons who praise the assassin of Gandhi.” On Thursday, minister for law PC Sharma said, “During Lok Sabha elections, she made the same comment and Prime Minister Modi said he would not forgive her from his heart. Now she has repeated her claim of Godse being a patriot in Parliament. Just removing her from the defence consultation committee is not enough. What she said is insult of the father of the nation, this country and its people. PM Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah should end her membership from the Lok Sabha.”
