KOLKATA: Within 100 days of passage of Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), the Central government will start providing citizenship to the people from the neighbouring countries who have taken refuge in West Bengal. The BJPs Bengal minder Kailash Vijayvargiya on Saturday said that the government is committed to provide citizenship to the people who had to leave their countries and seek asylum in India. “CAB will be passed in the parliament and will get a nod from the president. The government will start providing citizenship to these refugees within 100 days of that,” he said at a street corner in Dumdum.
“I dont want to scare you, but want to send a word of caution. Infiltration in Bengal has gone up and people must wake up to the fact. Of the 38,000 villages in the state, around 8,000 do not have any Hindu population. It seems that the infiltrators have driven them away from those villages,” Vijayvargiya said.
