The TV adaptation of Heathers is looking seriously twisted in this new trailer

As if we couldn’t be any more excited about the fact that classic 80s movie Heathers is getting a TV spin-off series, this wicked new trailer just whetted our appetite even more.
Yup, we already had a teaser way back in the summer, but the latest red-band clip has given us our first proper look at the small screen version of the Winona Ryder/Christian Slater cult classic.
And before you can shout ‘How very!,’ the good news is it’s looking every bit as vicious and scathing as its source material.
The plot has some similarities to that of the movie also, as Veronica Sawyer (here played by Grace Victoria Cox) – who is part of the popular clique at school (the titular ‘Heathers’) attempts to free herself of their influence.
But when she falls for the new boy in school, the mysterious JD (James Scully taking over where Christian Slater left off), things quickly spiral out of control.
While the similarities to the 1988 movie are obviously there, there are obvious differences in the TV show – for starters we have a very different group of Heathers – while Veronica Sawyer will be a very different character to her Winona Ryder counterpart.
‘It’s 2018, it’s not 1988,’ said executive producer Jason Micaleff. ‘No-one’s going to want to watch a girl for 10 episodes follow a guy around, murder people and then whine about it.’
Heathers the TV series will premiere on the Paramount Network in the US on March 7, although there’s no word yet on when we might see it here.
Although fingers crossed we don’t have too long to wait…
