Netflix has set Friday, May 4, for the Season 2 premiere of Dear White People, its comedy series based on the 2014 feature that won a Special Jury Award at Sundance. Check out the announcemend video above.

Based on Justin Simiens acclaimed debut indie feature, Dear White People is set against the backdrop of a predominantly white Ivy League university where racial tensions bubble just below the surface. The satirical series — which picks up where the movie left off – follows a group of Winchester Universitys students of color as they navigate a diverse landscape of social injustice, cultural bias, political correctness (or lack thereof) and activism in the millennial age.

Starring Logan Browning, Brandon P. Bell, Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori, Ashley Blaine Featherson and Marque Richardson star, the series won an Audience Award as SXSW last year and has been nominated for Gotham and Image Awards.

Simien is creator and executive producer of the show produced by Lionsgate, whose sister company Roadside Attractions released the film. Yvette Lee Bowser is the showrunner, with Stephanie Allain and Julia Lebedev executive producing.
