EastEnders is lining up a surprise return for Ruby Allen as Louisa Lytton has signed up to reprise the role of the formerly troubled teen who will now be 12 years older, wiser and more mature. But that doesnt mean that she wont bring trouble with her as she seeks to reconnect with her old pal Stacey Fowler.
Ruby arrived in the show in 2005 and struck up a friendship with Stacey but the crimes of her mobster dad Johnny overshadowed her teenage life and left her in despair. As her life fell apart after Johnny was exposed and subsequently died, she made a move on Staceys brother Sean – and fled Walford after they fell out.
Now she is heading back to try and build bridges with Stacey – but will it be as easy as she hopes? Or will there still be an atmosphere between them? And might Ruby be hiding deeper motives for coming home to Albert Square after over a decade?

Louisa enthused: EastEnders was my first acting job out of drama school and opened so many doors for me. Its wonderful to be given the opportunity to come back and explore my character and Im excited to see whats in store for Ruby. We last saw her twelve years ago as a young girl and now she is returning as a woman with scope for major change and some brilliantly challenging storylines.
Show boss John Yorke added: Louisa is a fantastic actress and I am delighted that she is returning to EastEnders. Now twelve years older, viewers will see a much more mature and confident Ruby who is set to be involved in one of our biggest storylines later this year.
After her Walford exit in 2006, Louisa had prominent roles in The Bill and Edge Of Heaven and also finished fourth in Strictly Come Dancings series that year.
