Marvel fans gave a collective sigh last week after it emerged Netflixs Iron Fist would not be returning after two seasons.

While the series garnered largely poor reviews and critical response, die-hard superhero fans mourned the loss of Finn Jones character Danny Rand and his first solo show.

But all is not lost.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Danny will continue to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – though franchise bosses are yet to confirm exactly where.

Speculation stemmed from a joint statement released by Marvel and Netflix executives last Friday, in which they confirmed the show had been axed and hinted that the immortal Iron Fist will live on.

Marvels Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix, the statement read.

Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners.

It continued: Were thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership weve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.

Marvel fans have since been guessing as to what new form Danny might take, with Entertainment Weekly musing that it could spell a second season of The Defenders or another Marvel series entirely.

While Finn is yet to comment on the claims, the actor did hint at new beginnings in a statement posted to social media last week.

With every end is a new beginning, the 30-year-old wrote on Instagram. I have an enormous amount of love and respect for everyone involved with the last two seasons of this show.

Reflecting on his time on the show, he added: Defending the greatest city in the world amongst the most talented and warmest people has been a privilege and a joy. Blessed to have taken this journey and grateful for the ongoing support.
