Lucifer is creeping up behind Game of Thrones as the most successful series of 2019, yet Netflix recently confirmed season five will be the satanic dramas last.
Tom Ellis cult hit has been through the mill, after it was dropped by Fox before it was saved by an enormous fan campaign in 2018 and then lo and behold, Netflix picked Lucifer up, injected even more style into it and now the streaming giant had its new most popular show, topping the weekly binge-list for six weeks.
Last week it was confirmed Lucifer was holding onto a steady lead against its nearest rivals, and should the series cling on to the top spot for another fortnight in the US, it will beat the current record held by Game of Thrones.

However, despite Lucifers growing popularity, Netflix have confirmed there will be no season six, which has left viewers completely bewildered and sparked an online petition with more than 50,000 signatures demanding more of the devilish comedy, which Detective Chloe Decker star Lauren Graham has pledged her full support to.
Speaking online about the petition, she wrote on Twitter: Lucifans, if you want a season 6 or more let it be heard. We love that you love #Lucifer your support on social media is cherished and important.
And if its only a season 5…I dont think youll be disappointed. We wont let you down. But if you want more let everyone know.
After the fandom managed to successfully bring Lucifer back from the dead, surely theres hope for a season six yet.
It turns out the Lucifer cast were just as floored by Netflixs announcement as its loyal following were, as Detective Dan Espinoza actor Kevin Alejandro exclusively revealed to Metro.co.uk he only discovered the show had been cancelled hours before the rest of us.
