Lewis Hamilton and Mick Schumacher were among the racers who held a minutes silence for Foruma 2 driver Anthoine Hubert, who died in an 170mph crash at yesterdays Belgian Grand Prix.

The 22-year-old Frenchman, who raced for the British-owner Arden team, was killed after colliding with US racer Juan-Manuel Correa, 20.

Todays scheduled F2 race was cancelled out of respect for Hubert, whose mother was consoled by Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc at the Spa-Francorchamps paddock circuit.

Huberts mother and brother held his racing helmet in their hands as teams and drivers bowed their head during a minutes silence.

Leclerc shared a picture on Instagram yesterday of him and Hubert from their junior racing days.

Another minutes silence was held before the Formula 1 Grand Prix, starting 3.10pm local time as drivers paused to remember him.

Max Sylvester rang in to air traffic control in Western Australia after his instructor collapsed in the two-seater Cessna plane. ?He?s leaning over my shoulder, I?m trying to keep him up but he keeps falling down,? Mr Sylvester told the controller in audio provided to ABC. ?Do you know how to operate the aeroplane?? the controller asked. ?This is my first lesson,? Mr Sylvester replied. Over the next 62 minutes, the controller guided Mr Sylvester through the landing. The student pilot's wife and three young children listened from air traffic control. ?You?re doing a really great job. I know this is really stressful. But you?re going to do an amazing job and we?re going to help you get down to the ground,? the controller said. Mr Sylvester landed the plane safely at Jandakot Airport, reportedly after making several passes over the runway. The instructor, from the Air Australia International flying school, was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition, local media reported.Trainee pilot makes emergency landing on first lesson after instructor faints

Prema Racings Mick Schumacher, son of Michael, also embraced Huberts brother before the minutes silence.

Hubert was pronounced dead at 6.35pm after his car was hit from the side and span around violently and flipped upside down.

Correa is recovering from his injuries in Liege hospital.
