A three year-old girl who suffered horrific physical and sexual abuse was found to have almost a liter of blood in her stomach after she died.
Alona Halo Williams had 800 milliliters of the substance in her abdominal cavity, and was also found to have severe intestinal damage.
A medical examiner concluding that both injuries had been caused by extreme sexual trauma, and dismissed Halos mothers claims it was the result of a car accident.
Halo, who lived in Houston, Texas, died in June 2018. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Halos grandma Mikisha Vaughn has now hit out at Child Protective Services for failing to respond to her concerns that the youngster was being abused in January 2018.
She says she called their hotline after Halo showed up badly bruised and with her arm in a splint, only to get an answering machine.

Vaughn then left messages urging social workers to call her back, only to be ignored, KHOU reported.

Halos mother and her mothers boyfriend have been accused of abusing the toddler, then lying about the injuries she sustained.
Recalling her horror on hearing of Halos internal injuries, Vaughn told KHOU: I just couldnt believe it.

Vaughns concerns for Halo worsened in March 2018, when the youngster appeared covered in scratches, bruises and what looked like belt-marks.
The grieving grandmother quizzed her daughter about the marks, and was reportedly told that her daughters live-in boyfriend had been giving Halo whoopings.
In April, Halo was admitted to hospital with a lemon-sized knot in her head.
Her mom is said to have claimed that she hit her head on a slide at the park.
Vaughn recalled her horror at receiving another call from her daughter in June 2018, saying that Halo was in the emergency room and was seriously ill.
She recalled: They were trying to save her. They were asking me a lot of stuff, “What had happened and where was I?”
