Refresh for updates The Twitterverse has been flooded with reactions, opinions, and memes in regards to the much-talked about GOP tax bill. But with the bill passing today, many took to Twitter to put their two cents in.

In a statement from the WGA obtained by Deadline, the guild referred to the bill as a “disaster.” Read the full statement below.

“The tax bill is a disaster. The fundamental problem faced by America is that for 40 years our economy has become increasingly tilted toward inequality and the disappearance of the middle class. Congress and the President have skewed the tax system heavily in favor of the rich; next they will use the resulting budget crisis to defund Medicare, public education and Social Security, all things that working Americans fought for and pay for.

“Middle class writers are not immune to the forces of inequality. We will be doing our best to help writers understand the implications of this legislation for them.

The WGAW stands with those who will resist.”

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti also expressed his frustrations with the bill:

This bill is bad for Los Angeles, and it’s bad for America. Once again, Republicans in Congress have turned their backs on working families and the middle class to give big corporations and billionaires enormous tax breaks. It’s clear that until we see a change, working families will continue to be left behind by Washington, with policies that hit their pocket books, and make critical needs like affordable housing even more expensive.

On the flipside, Charles Rivkin, Chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), praised the passage of the bill saying:

The MPAA congratulates Congress on the passage of comprehensive tax reform legislation. H.R. 1 will promote further economic growth across American industries, including the U.S. film and television sector, which supports two million jobs and a network of thousands of small businesses across all 50 states. This legislation will advance our nation’s global competitiveness and encourage additional investment at home.

On Twitter, outspoken Hollywood figures and politicians chimed in, venting their anger or celebrating the win. Read the tweets below.

Well, they did it. Finally, someone had the courage to stand up for America's forgotten corporations. Jk – Fuck you, assholes, hope you choke on it.

Some of the Republicans in the US Senate just voted to submit their 2018 exit papers to the American people. Who would do that?

No hearing. No expert testimony. No listening to the American people. That has been the story of the #GOPTaxScam.

The bill that the Republicans jammed through the Senate tonight isn’t tax reform. It’s a heist. Let's call this out for what it is: Government for sale. #GOPTaxScam
