Little Mixs Jesy Nelson recalled how she felt so insecure after being targeted by online trolls over her appearance.
The 27-year-old singer opened up on ITVs Lorraine about becoming an overnight sensation after winning the X Factor back in 2011 – which sparked a wave of abuse from online trolls in the early days.
Speaking on the show about her history with online abuse, Jesy said: It became such a thing with, “Oh shes so ugly, shes different, shes fat.” What I used to think about myself completely changed. Like I became so insecure. I believed everything everyone said.
It was such a horrible road for me to go down. And I feel like as we got older, I dont know where the turning point was, but weve all just learnt not to care anymore.

Fellow band member Jade Thirlwall also stated how they struggled in the early days to deal with the pressures of looking a certain way.

Jade added: We were thrust into the limelight overnight. To have people change the way you look, or edit the way you look, or comment on the way you look, its a lot to take. We really struggled with that in the beginning. Weve had to learn to grow a thick skin.
Everyone has their own insecurities, Perrie said. Thats why us as a band we want to teach our younger fans, our boy fans and our girl fans and every fan that we have is being yourself is enough and you should embrace your insecurities because thats what makes you different.
You can catch Lorraine weekdays on ITV 8.30am.
