If youre tuning into the new series of Ninja Warror UK you may wonder: has anyone actually managed to overcome the seemingly impossible obstacles and won the show?

Because lets face it – a game show isnt a game show if there arent any winners, right?

Its a little complicated. We break it down.

Has anyone ever won Ninja Warrior UK?

While people have won the show, no-one has actually completed the course so far.

Instead, contestants who get to the furthest point of the course have been crowned winner.

This means no-one has taken the official title of Ninja Warrior UK.

Last years winner, Tim Shieff, came painstakingly close to completing it before falling on its penultimate challenge – the flying bars.

Its not the first time the former vegan athlete has been on the show, as he was also crowned the winner in the 2015 final.

Tim hit the news earlier ths year after famously quitting a vegan company he founded after it emerged he had eaten eggs and salmon.

What do contestants need to do on Ninja Warrior UK?

Contestants from across the country battle it out on the ultimate obstacle course which tests their strength, endurance and courage.

The competition is divided into three stages: five qualifier rounds, two semi finals and the finals.

In total, approximately 250 contestants compete.

Not for the faint of heart, the final stage concludes with a near-impossible task which features a 22-metre rope climb, known as Mount Midoriyama.

No-one has yet made it to this stage on Ninja Warrior UK.
