A mother and father who starved, shackled and abused 12 of their 13 children for years have been jailed for life.
David and Louise Turpin were handed the lengthy sentence – with a minimum of 25 years before they can be paroled – at a court hearing in Riverside, California, Friday, 15 months after their vile crimes were exposed.
The judge who sentenced them said: You have severed the ability to interact and raise your children that you have created and brought into this world…their lives have been permanently altered and their ability to learn grow and thrive.
The Turpins, who imprisoned their huge brood in a filthy rental home in Perris, California, sobbed during Fridays hearing as their kids read out victim impact statements, before apologizing for the abuse.
