The newly elected 690th Lord Mayor of London Charles Bowman today swore loyalty to the Crown during his riotous initiation celebration known as the Lord Mayor's Show.

The new Lord Mayor arrived in the City in a flotilla this morning, before setting off on the world-famous Lord Mayor's Procession from Mansion House to swear allegiance at the Royal Courts of Justice and then returning to Mansion House this afternoon. A fireworks display over the Thames this evening finished the day.

Bowman was formerly a non-executive director of PwC's tax practice and was the man who set up its audit and assurance practice looking after its FTSE 100 and "larger listed" clients.

He succeeded Andrew Parmley and took office after the so-called Silent Ceremony on 10 November.

Bowman's priority will be the "business of trust", encouraging firms in the City to "connect with their community".

“During my mayoralty I will champion a Brexit that works for City firms and communities and I will be speaking to government regularly to ensure this happens," Bowman has said previously.

"We are clear that we want to see mutual access to EU markets continues, ensure early agreement on a transitional deal and make sure we continue to allow the brightest and best to find jobs in the UK."
