It’s the cost of Thanksgiving. And my, is it hefty.

The average person will be spending $165.14 this holiday, according to lendedu.com. Ouch.

That’s broken down into $67.59 on travel, and $97.55 for other costs.

And don’t think you can get away with a small tab just because you’re not traveling anywhere. You can take the travel cost and put that towards and turkey and all the trimmings if you’re lucky enough to host.

The cover price is pretty alarming, when you consider the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner for ten people is around $50, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF).

Actually, last year that price went down.

AFBF Director of Market Intelligence Dr John Newton said at the time: ‘We have seen farm prices for many foods — including turkeys — fall from the higher levels of recent years. This translates into lower retail prices for a number of items as we prepare for Thanksgiving and confirms that US consumers benefit from an abundant, high-quality and affordable food supply.’
