Russell Tovey and Wentworth Miller left the internet dead on Wednesday evening after their DC Comics characters finally had a smooch.
Tovey made his debut on the hit CW show The Flash as Ray Tyrrell, a superhero with the ability to manipulate light, and his chemistry with Miller’s Captain Cold led to some serious heat between the pair.
The two starred in a four-part episode crossover, Crisis on Earth-X, between The Flash, Arrow, Legends Of Tomorrow, and Supergirl, and in one episode, set in an alternate universe the pair were in a relationship, with Miller starring as Citizen Cold, who is an AU version of Captain Cold.
The scene was a rare moment on primetime TV of two openly gay characters kissing – and both played by openly gay actors – and was praised by fans.
‘OMG OMG WENTWORTH AND RUSSELL. I AM DYING,’ tweeted one fan while another exclaimed: ‘So much love for this super event.’

I don’t know if I’m more jealous of Russell for getting to kiss Wentworth or Wentworth for getting to kiss Russell. Please send help.

The four DC Comics shows have been praised for their openness to featuring characters whose sexuality is not a plot point, with Ray joining Legend Of Tomorrow’s Sara Lance, The Flash’s Central City PD Captain David Singh and Supergirl’s Alex Danvers.
