All that’s missing is a gas shortage and some pet rocks, otherwise this new trailer for Netflix’s One Day at a Time is a note-perfect flashback to the Me Decade. Netflix announced today that Season 2 of the reimagined comedy begins streaming January 26.

Recreating the 1975 opening credits for the Norman Lear sitcom, the new trailer has the Netflix cast – Justina Machado, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz, Todd Grinnell and Rita Moreno – mimicking every movement and expression of the One Day originals (Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips, Valerie Bertinelli, Pat Harrington Jr. and Mary Louise Wilson).

Take a look at the new trailer above, and compare it to the classic opening credits below.

In the new series, the central characters are the Alvarez family, a Cuban-American clan headed by a former military mom navigating a new single life while raising her radical teenaged daughter and socially adept tween son. The latter is played by Marcel Ruiz, who does a spot-on impersonation of Bertinelli in the trailer.

“This is It!,” the show’s theme song, was similarly re-imagined by Gloria and Emilio Estefan, and is performed by Gloria Estefan.

One Day at a Time is produced by Act III Productions, Inc., Snowpants Productions and Small Fish Studios in association with Sony Pictures Television. Mike Royce & Gloria Calderon Kellett are writers and EP’s, along with EPs Norman Lear, Michael Garcia and Co-EP Brent Miller.

Watch the trailer above, and the old opening below – and enjoy.
