Peaky Blinders fans have a theory about whether Polly will betray Tommy Shelby
Aunt Polly might have decided to betray Tommy (Picture: Robert Viglasky/BBC) Peaky Blinders fans are..
Peaky Blinders fans are a very vigilant bunch, as they think they might have sussed out what Aunt Pol has in store for Tommy Shelby.
Viewers previously saw Polly play with fire by offering to hand Tommy to Luca Changretta if he leaves the rest of her family alone. In a brilliant and tense scene, Luca – and his gun – came within spitting of Polly’s son Michael, only to back down and agree to Polly’s terms.
It was a shocking twist that had many fearing Pol would betray Tommy, but now fans aren’t so sure.
Wednesday’s episode saw Polly grill Lizzie about Tommy’s availability, and she repeatedly asked her to make sure he didn’t have any plans for Friday, telling her she had an ‘appointment’ for him.
Pol drew a black star on the date she needed in the diary which turned on a lightbulb for viewers.
In series one, Black Star Day saw the Peaky Blinders finally defeat Billy Kimber’s gang – and Grace betray the Shelbys.
Tommy told Grace to put Black Star Day on the calendar, and Grace – who is working undercover – passes on the information to Inspector Campbell who lets Billy get the drop on what the Peaky Blinders are up to.
Of course the Peaky Blinders won out, but among fans the black star has come to signify a betrayal by someone close.
In Aunt Polly’s case the betrayal might not actually come from her…
‘There’s no f*****g way Polly is going to sell Tommy out, I think She warned him by putting that black star in the diary. She’s way more clever than you think,’ one viewer posted on Twitter.
‘Can’t actually see Polly betraying Tommy, surely the black star in his diary was to warn him? However if she has betrayed him I’ll be fuming’ another said.
Did Poll put that black star in Tommy’s diary? If so it’s definitely a warning. Last time he used one of those was for the day of the planned Kimber take down. Symbolises betrayal by a loved one, and things not going as planned #peakyblinders#PeakyBlinders4

Polly warned Tommy by putting a black star in his diary so she was never gonna actually betray him thank fuck #PeakyBlinders

@ThePeakyBlinder#peakyblinders theory thread – not sure about the car bit at the end of ep4, but I reckon Polly is telling Tommy of the plan. The black star is a hark back to Season 1 – "black star day" when Grace betrayed him.

We’ve seen what’s coming up next and while we wouldn’t give anything away, we will say you can expect one of the best set pieces so far this series.
