During filming of the romantic drama Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool, photographer Charlie Gray was on set, capturing behind-the-scenes images of, well, Film Stars’ film stars. In the movie, Annette Bening, plays Old Hollywood actress Gloria Grahame, whose love affair with a younger man, Peter Turner (played by a thoroughly dashing Jamie Bell), was the basis of a memoir, now adapted for the screen. The film, a sensitively acted memory piece, also features Julie Walters, Kenneth Cranham, and Stephen Graham as Peter’s mother, father, and brother, respectively, at first suspicious of Grahame but gradually welcoming her in as part of the family.
