An explosion near a bus terminal in Manhattan "was terror-related", New York City mayor Bill de Blasio has said.
He added that there were "no known additional incidents of activities".
A suspect, identified by NYC police commissioner James O'Neill as 27 year-old Akayed Ullah, was taken into custody after the explosion. He sustained minor injuries when a device strapped to him, thought to be a pipe bomb, detonated at the Port Authority bus terminal in midtown Manhattan.
The Fire Department of New York said Ullah's injuries were non-life threatening.

An hour earlier, the New York Policy Department (NYPD) had tweeted that officers were responding to reports of the explosion at 42nd Street and 8th Avenue.

Subway lines A, C and E were also evacuated, according to NYPD's twitter account, they said.
The Port Authority bus terminal tweeted that although it was open, the entrance to the subway was closed.
The Port Authority Bus Terminal is open.
Due to police activity, the entrance to the subway at the Port Authority Bus Terminal on Eighth Avenue is closed.
