Richard Arnold and Kate Garraway attempted the Strictly core challenge on Friday morning’s Good Morning Britain and it descended into pure chaos.

Ben Shephard was excused from the task ‘for medical reasons’, so Kate roped in showbiz correspondent Richard for the challenge – which was made famous by Strictly Come Dancing‘s Joe McFadden and Katya Jones at the weekend.

But the pair clearly hadn’t rehearsed so had no idea what they were doing, having to get Ben to help them out as well as Charlotte Hawkins, who appeared on Strictly this series.

Ben said: ‘Richard’s joined us, right we’re going to take on this Strictly core challenge.’

Richard lay on the studio floor, before Kate flicked off her shoes and Richard wrapped his legs around her.

But of course this isn’t how the professionals do it, so Ben shoved Richard’s legs onto Kate’s shoulders.

Kate screamed: ‘Why didn’t we practice this?! I’m not secure!’ before Ben hit back: ‘Because we’re not paid to rehearse!’

Miraculously, the pair managed to complete the core challenge… but not before falling into a heap on the studio floor.

Still sat on the floor, Richard said sarcastically: ‘Try hard at school children or you’ll end up doing this for a living.’

The GMB hosts later attempted the challenge again, this time with Judge Rinder, and it’s safe to say it didn’t go any better…

Good Morning Britain airs 6am weekdays on ITV. The Strictly grand finale airs 6.30pm Saturday night on BBC One.
