Antoine Griezmann was hit with a wave of criticism after the Atletico Madrid star shared a picture of himself in blackface.
The France international, who has continually been linked with a transfer to Manchester United, posted a snap of fancy dress outfit for an ’80’s party’ on Twitter.
Griezmann was dressed as a basketball player, but the photo of him in blackface sparked outrage on social media.

Many urged Griezmann to take the photo down and accused the attacker of racism.
The tweet went viral and Griezmann attempted to defend himself.
He said: ‘Calm down guys, I’m fan of the Harlem globetrotters and the good times… it’s a tribute.’

Griezmann then deleted that tweet and the picture and issued an apology.
He said: ‘I admit it’s clumsy on my part. If I hurt some people I apologize.’
But, the damage was already done as criticism poured in across social media.
