LA’s Fox 11 has tapped Rita Garcia as co-host of Good Day LA alongside Megan Colarossi. She replaces longtime co-host Steve Edwards, who was abruptly fired last week after more than two decades with the program.

Garcia begins her new job today on the morning news and entertainment program, which airs weekdays from 9-10 AM.

“Rita is an experienced journalist who is already familiar with the unique culture and landscape of Southern California, making her the perfect addition to the ‘Good Day LA’ morning team,” said station Vice President and News Director, Kristine Knutsen who made the announced.

Garcia moves to Good Day LA from Fox-owned KRIV in Houston where she served as weekday morning anchor. Prior to that, she was a reporter for KCBS/KCAL in Southern California. Garcia began her career as an investigative reporter for KRGV in Rio Grande Valley in South Texas.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to Los Angeles, staying in the Fox family and working alongside such a talented group of journalists. It’s been an honor to greet Houstonians in the morning and I’m looking forward to doing the same in LA.”
