Ed Sheeran is imploring the venerated Broccoli family to notice him. On Friday, the British singer appeared on Ireland’s Late Late Show and revealed that among his trove of unreleased songs is a James Bond theme he’s simply been dying to use.

“I’ve had a theme tune written for about three years—just in case,” Sheeran said, confirming that no one involved in the 007 films has asked for this. However, when host Ryan Tubridy asked what the song was called, Sheeran demurred. “I’m not gonna say ‘cause someone might steal it—but it’s good.”

Sheeran also revealed that the song he recently recorded with Eminem, “River,” was also a track he had waiting in the wings, just in case he ever got to work with the famous rapper. It’s like Sheeran is using some musical version of The Secret, writing imagined collaborations and whispering them to the universe.

As far as potential Bond singers go, Sheeran’s probably on an MGM/Annapurna shortlist somewhere, considering his enormous popularity. The last few Bond singers have included Sam Smith, Adele, and Jack White and Alicia Keys, all hitmakers with a modern edge (and mostly Brits, too). However, there’s still something so very “notice me, senpai!” about Sheeran’s public overture—especially since he could very well write feted Bond producer Barbara Broccoli a very nice letter, in the style of Greta Gerwigfor Justin Timberlake, if he really wanted the gig. Then again, Sheeran as we now know is on a linear timeline where The Secret is real. Plus, he is a celebrity—and when celebrities publicly ask for things, they usually get them. Such is life!
