Netflix have announced the second season of Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events will be hitting the platform on March 30.

The first season, which sees Neil Patrick Harris as the terrifically dastardly Count Olaf, was a surprise treat which often feels slightly overlooked in comparison to Netflix’s other headline-hitting shows.

A new fourth-wall breaking teaser however seems to suggest we’re in for another slice of wicked evil, with Count Olaf remarking: ‘I’m so sorry to disturb your recovery, but it’s time for us to get this New Year’s Day binge started.

‘There maybe some of you surprised that Netflix would choose this for the first face you see in 2018, but those are the same people who wouldn’t recognize handsome if it set your house on fire.

‘So dive on in, distract yourself with this first look at season 2 of A Series Of Unfortunate Events.’

The show, based on Lemony Snicket’s beloved book series, stars Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes and Presley Smith as the Baudelaire children, who were orphaned after their parents died in a fire.

Since their parents death, the children now jump from guardian to guardian, with Count Olaf attempting to chase them to claim their inheritance.

The second season covers books five through nine, as the story traverses through boarding schools to penthouse apartments.

The show also boasts arguably the best Netflix theme tune ever to grace the platform, so please, look away.

A Series Of Unfortunate Events season 2 releases on Netflix March 30.
