Mrs Brown’s Boys fans are in for a treat as 2018 kicks off, as the sweary Irish matriarch continues to meddle in her kids lives in the second part of the special episode.
The comedy, starring Brendan O’Carroll, smashed it in ratings for yet another Christmas pulling in 6.8 million viewers on Christmas Day – some of the highest-ratings for the BBC – as Rory underwent plastic surgery and Cathy met a new love interest online.
Will the New Year’s Day episode bring in similar big numbers?
Who’s in it?
O’Carroll plays Mrs Agnes Brown, of course, with his on-screen family (also O’Carroll’s real life family) playing their parts as well.
His son Daniel O’Carroll will play Buster Brady, while his wife Jennifer Gibney plays daughter Cathy Brown.
Actor Rory Cowan will not be returning after quitting the show last year. In the Christmas special Rory’s character, also called Rory, underwent plastic surgery and re-emerged in the form of actor Damian McKiernan.
What happens in the episode?
Father Damien puts together a Neighbourhood Watch to tackle rising crime in Finglas, but couldn’t have asked for worse members than Agnes and Winnie.
Elsewhere, Agnes steps in to help Cathy find love after her internet date ends in disaster.
When is it on?
Mrs Brown’s Boys airs at 10pm on BBC One.

Mrs Brown’s Boys will return for a new series of her talk show, All Round To Mrs Brown’s, set to air later in 2018.
