Is Ann Widdecombe finally settling into life in the Celebrity Big Brother house?

Because while she might have complained about the furniture and been less than impressed by some of her fellow housemates, she certainly seems to have hit it off with Malika Haqq – to the extent that she even allowed her to give her a makeover.

The former MP sat patiently while Malika snipped her locks, telling her: ‘You’ve really really great hair,’ and adding: ‘I like this – before whispering “good job”.’

‘I’m sure it’ll be a good job Malika,’ Ann told her. ‘I have no doubt about that, I wouldn’t have let you loose if I had any doubts.’

‘It’s a fascinating house,’ she added during her chat with the reality star. ‘We were there discussing capital punishment with the boys, and then I’m in here being made over!’

The 70-year-old had the chance to show off her new barnet on Tuesday night’s live show, which also featured her wearing a sparkly red dress chosen for her by Ashley James.

All of which had a profound – and surprising – effect on housemate Andrew Brady, who told her: ‘Wow! You look beautiful, young lady.’

The show saw the housemates nominating face to face, with Jonny Mitchell and India Willoughby chosen to face the first public vote of the series.

Celebrity Big Brother continues on Wednesday night on Channel 5 at 9pm.
