Cheryl Baker has admitted that she worried about aggravating the injuries she suffered when her former band Bucks Fizz were involved in a horrific coach crash in 1984.

The foursome, also made up of Cheryl, Mike Nolan, Jay Aston and Bobby G, were on their tour bus on the way back to their hotel after performing in Newcastle when they were involved in a collision with another vehicle. Cheryl was thrown through the windscreen and injured her spine.

It is an injury that still plays on the singer’s mind while training for the ice-skating show, and explained that she uses pads from her AGA to stop her from hurting her back again.

But the damage from that night still plays on her mind.

Appearing on Friday’s This Morning with her skating partner Dan Whiston, she said: ‘I’m terrified of hurting my spine, I’m terrified of it.

‘And so I shove an AGA pad down my back and it does soften the blow.

She also said she is struggling with her shoulder after taking a tumble during training and has to have constant physiotherapy.

‘It aches constantly,’ she said.

Cheryl and Dan got some pretty harsh scores during the last live show, with judge Jason Gardiner calling their routine ‘the worst performance of the night’.

But Cheyl said that she doesn’t take Jason’s comments personally…for now.

Dancing On Ice continues Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
