A Florida sheriff hung out a “vacancy” sign to advertise for the county jail in a Thursday video, extolling the jail’s “one star rating.”

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly displayed a neon green “VACANCY” sign in front of the county jail, which is also referred to as the “Green County Inn,” reports the Daytona News Beach Journal.

Underneath the neon-sign is a list of “accommodations” the jail has, such as “no privacy,” “designer jewelry AKA handcuffs and irons,” and “no meal selection.” The jail, built in 2016, currently has a prison inmate population of 217.

“We have a one-star rating and we’re working to lower that as I’m speaking,” the sheriff explains in the video.

Staly elaborated on the reasoning behind hanging up the signs, saying he hoped they would serve as “crime prevention” for potential criminals.

“The purpose of the signs is crime prevention,” Staly explained. “It is a warning to potential offenders that the jail is not a 5-star hotel. When you get arrested, we provide the minimum accommodations as required by law. Once an offender ‘checks-in’ they lose their basic freedoms. They don’t decide what to eat, wear, or do with their day.”
