Gogglebox viewers were left saddened over the absence of Leon and June, as the eleventh series kicks off.

Leon Bernicoff died aged 83 on December 23 last year, with his wife June recently confirming she wouldn’t be returning to the show for the next series.

The show’s return also saw the absence of Chris Butland-Steed, who recently announced he was leaving the show in the hopes of pursuing a TV career elsewhere.

His on-screen partner and ex Stephen Webb continued on the show however, but was seen instead alongside his mother Pat in couch potato bickering.

Viewers however couldn’t help but feel the absence of Leon and June, who were fan favourites since the show’s inception in 2003.

A segment showing Holly & Phil’s interview with Prime Minister Theresa May also had many wondering exactly what Leon would have said.

@LeonAndJune I’d loved to have seen Leon interview the Prime Minister June, I think he would have given her a run for her money ? #Gogglebox
