The Walking Dead season 8: First episode 12 pictures see Rick and Negan prepare for war

The Walking Dead looks set to be gearing up for a huge confrontation at Hilltop, as Maggie and Rick pack pistols and axes.
The last episode titled Dead Or Alive Or saw Negan reveal his Eugene-inspired plan of attack against Hilltop, coating weapons and bullets with walker guts in the hope of spreading the infection.
Pictures from the next episode titled The Key seem to tease preparations on both sides of the conflict, with Rick having recently arrived at Hilltop looking pensive over graves of the fallen.
On the flip side at the Saviors homestead, Simon looks to be growing suspicious of double agent Dwight as Negan chills out like he’s modelling for Top Gear.
The episode synopsis reads: ‘Hilltop’s leadership faces a difficult dilemma after the arrival of unexpected visitors; Rick comes face to face with an adversary.’
So it’s time for Rick and Negan to finally have another dramatic confrontation – but could there be any casualties?

If we’re slowly building to Red Eye Rick shown in the presumed flash-forwards, it looks like Negan could inflict a nasty injury which will leave him at the brink.
A trailer for the next episode also sees Negan echo his excellent past speech to Rick, saying: ‘‘You failed your boy, you failed your people. Why didn’t you let me save them Rick?’
