Star Trek: Discovery has enlisted stand-up comedian and One Mississippi star Tig Notaro in a guest starring role for season 2. She will play Chief Engineer Denise Reno of the U.S.S. Hiawatha. Production for the sophomore season of the CBS All Access series will begin later this month. As of today, there has been no confirmed airdate.

No additional information about Chief Engineer Denise Reno has been revealed and the character doesnt seem to be in the Star Trek canon. CBS All Access has not confirmed which episodes she will appear.

Notaro has appeared on numerous TV shows and films. The documentary Tig chronicles her attempts to become pregnant with her wife, actress Stephanie Allynne. She also co-wrote, produced, and starred in the aforementioned semi-autobiographical Amazon series One Mississippi. She can be seen next in the comedy Instant Family with Octavia Spencer, Mark Wahlberg, Rose Byrne, and Isabela Moner.

She is well-known for her stand-up comedy, particularly her memorable live stage show at the Largo in Los Angeles where she addressed her cancer diagnosis she received days before as well as a recent break-up and how she lost her mother in a freak accident. The stage show became available for download and immediately became a hit.
