TV festival Series Mania, staged in France, is assembling a heavyweight lineup of speakers including Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, Endemol Shine Groups Sophie Turner Laing and TF1 Groups Gilles Pelisson. Hastings will be the subject of a Q&A session. Other panelists are set to include BBC director of policy Claire Sumer and Antony Root, VP, programming and production, HBO Europe. French minister of culture Françoise Nyssen and European Commission VP Andrus Ansip will close discussions. The Lille-based event runs April 27 – May 5.

French sales outfit Playtime has picked up international sales rights to Vanessa Filhos feature debut Angel Face, which will get its world premiere in Un Certain Regard at Cannes. In what we hear is a special performance, Marion Cotillard plays a single mother who lives with her 8-year-old daughter in a small town in the south of France. One day, she suddenly chooses to abandon her daughter for a man she has just met during another night of excess. Elli must confront her mothers demons to win her back. Marc Missonnier produces with Carole Lambert. Mars Films is co-producing and will distribute in France from the end of May.

The BBC has ordered documentary Thatcher about the iconic and divisive former British leader. Across five one hour instalments, the BBC Two series will tell the story of the leader and Conservative politician, who died in 2013. It will look at how a girl from a modest market town, and who trained as chemist, became a world leader. She was Britains first and only female Prime Minister, holding office between 1979 and 1990. BBC Studios will sell the doc internationally.
