The Tony Award nominations are being announced this morning at Lincoln Center by Leslie Odom Jr. and Katharine McPhee. Watch the live stream and check back here for updates.

The Tony field has been as diverse as in any recent year, with Broadway piling up grosses (up 14.5% over last year, 1.5% ahead in terms of attendance) based on crowd-pleasing spectacles as well as more challenging work. It has been a strong year for revivals, with Angels in America, Carousel, Three Tall Women, My Fair Lady and Once on this Island all connecting with audiences. Some grumbles have been heard from critics about the volume of derivative titles such as Frozen, Mean Girls and SpongeBob SquarePants having been well-established before reaching the Rialto. At the same time, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a sequel to the billion-dollar J.K. Rowling saga, has dazzled critics with its kinetic, effects-laden two parts.

One major draw this year with ticket buyers, Bruce Springsteens solo show, opted out of the race. It declined to invite Tony voters to shows, which would leave the artists fans out in the cold, making it ineligible. Springsteen is expected to get honorary recognition during the Tony ceremony.

The Tony Awards will air June 10 on CBS (and streaming on CBS All Access) from Radio City Music Hall, hosted by Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban. During the ceremony, Chita Rivera and Andrew Lloyd Webber will receive lifetime achievement honors, and New Yorks La MaMa E.T.C. (Experimental Theatre Club) the 2018 Regional Theatre Tony Award.
