Bethany Platt is about to end up in serious peril in Coronation Street when vengeful Kayla Clifton attacks her and then takes her hostage after her true identity is revealed. Kayla has been masquerading as a love interest for Craig Tinker while secretly plotting to bring him and Bethany down as she believes they wrongly accused her dad Neil.
When Bethany worries about Craig and calls round to Kaylas house, she sees a photograph of her with Neil and when Kayla then smashes a vase over her head and leaves her bound up, Bethany is in a perilous situation.
Craig faces a race against time to save her while Bethany desperately tries to get through to Kayla to convince her that her dad is an abuser and a rapist and every bit as guilty as the jury declared. But can she succeed – and survive?
Actress Lucy Fallon told Metro.co.uk: Bethany just turns up to Kaylas house and is trying to find Craig, then Bethany sees the picture of her and Neil. Kayla hits her but nothing is pre-planned, shes in a massive state.

Obviously its quite terrifying for Bethany, thinking that shes going to die…
However, Bethany soon forms a sympathy and understanding of Kayla when she realises that she too has been groomed and brainwashed by her manipulative dad and Lucy reckons that this actually puts them on the same side.
She reasoned: Once she realises that Kayla was under the illusion that Neil was the police officer, this hero kind of figure, she does feel sorry for her because a lot of people did feel that way about him. Craig did at first. She starts to see Kayla more as a victim, which puts them on the same side. Thats actually a line that Bethany says.
It seems like there are more arduous scenes for Bethany but Lucy loves every second of it. She enthused: I like all of the gritty stuff. It makes it a bit more exciting and its more of a challenge. But yeah, when I read it, I was like “Oh come on!”
But its been really good. Its obviously different to the stuff that weve been doing with the grooming stuff, and its a different kind of challenge but its been very good, very exciting.
Literally everything that could ever happen has already happened on the Street. I was thinking maybe she could be a drug addict, but thats happened! So I have no idea what could happen. Maybe she needs to become a villain, like the next Pat Phelan. Maybe shell just start killing everyone!
