Has Game of Thrones hinted at a major plotline without any of us noticing? If a new theory is correct then Samuel Tarly may end up with a pretty impressive new title.
We all want to know how the HBO show will end in the next and final season and so far the theories have been coming at us all left, right and centre.
The writers and showrunners love a bit of cheeky Easter Egg that often goes unnoticed for episodes and episodes.
This is not new – the creators did it at the start of the show when they seemingly foreshadowed Ned Starks death in the pilot.
In case you missed it: Ned found a direwolf (the Stark households symbol) that was killed by a stag (the House Baratheon sigil) before he was executed on King Joffrey Baratheons orders.
Now a user of Reddit may have spotted a similar prediction placed neatly in past storylines that apparently foreshadows Samwell Tarlys future.

The theory suggests that Tarly, who is played by John Bradley, may end up as the Warden of the South because of a season seven scene.
It sounds wild but bear with us …
When Jamie is convincing Randyll Tarly to fight with the Lannisters he says: When the war is won, Cercei will need a new Warden of the South. I can think of no better man than yourself, redditer GSmash wrote.
And the immediate next scene is a cut to Sam Tarlys face.
I think this, along with the fact that Sam has Heartsbane (the Tarly ancestral Valyrian steel sword), is some pretty convincing evidence that when all is said and done, Sam is going to be the Warden of the South.
Sams story hasnt been a smooth sailing one, and as the theory adds, seems unlikely that he will become a Maester like he initially intended, or an official one at least.
They continued: It is possible he could be some sort of quasi-maester like Qyburn.
Also, I have a suspicion that the after the big war that is being led up to right now, the Nights Watch is either going to be very different or cease to exist at all (the wall is broken, wildlings are on good terms with the North, etc).
Unless hes killed, Sams story has to end somewhere.
But die-hard fans of the fantasy show will be quick to point out that the theory is very unlikely because Sam is not exactly the fighting man, or the type that that will take up such a big position in leadership.

Why? Because he hates fighting – you need to lead wars as a warden – and prefers to sit in the library to read books.
But, its Game of Thrones! Anything can happen.

However, when Sam finally found himself in the ultimate library of all libraries – the citadel – he spoke about his new aspirations.
I dont want to spend the rest of my life reading about the achievements of greater men, he said.
Maybe he can actually be among those great men even if he isnt the first choice to lead an army.
Game of Thrones season 8 will return in 2019.
