Its been a whole year since the world celebrated the news that Jodie Whittaker would be stepping into boots filled by the likes of Peter Capaldi and Matt Smith as the first female Doctor Who and naturally youd expect shes feeling the pressure.

Well, actually, considering shes about to become a monumental milestone in British television shes remarkably cool about her next venture as the Time Lord.
Opening up about landing the biggest role of her career to Radio Times, the mother-of-one revealed that theres a heavy weight lifted from her shoulders thanks to the near-unanimously welcoming reaction from fans and hurling the rule book out of the window.

I was obviously delighted that when my name was announced, I wasnt completely slated – although maybe I was? Maybe I was just given sugar-coated information because everyone I spoke to was like, “People love you!” she told the publication.

As long as most people are happy, Im all right with that because the fans are so loyal and so passionate, and its a huge deal to them. And obviously for Whovians this time the change has taken a very different direction than it has before.

She continued: In a way, though, there is liberation in that new direction: the pressure is less for me because I can only do this my way. All the rules are out the window! Thats what makes it so fun.
