The Walking Dead appears to have confirmed a popular fan theory that season nine of the zombie epic will include not one, but two time jumps.
Last night, the cast unveiled the very first trailer for season nine of The Walking Dead, which has spawned all sorts of spectacular fan theories, but one in particular seems to be on point.
If you pay close attention to the five minute clip, youll notice Father Gabriel gets Queer Eyed with a jazzy makeover, growing a dashing grey goatee.
Ahead of yesterdays first look, it was widely speculated the upcoming ninth cycle would include a second leap into the future, which fans are now claiming has been confirmed in the priests facial hair.

Reddit user FightTheDead wrote: Theres been a rumour of two time skips, one of a couple months and later on the comic accurate multiple year time skip.

Early in the trailer Gabriel is clean shaven, and later on has a full goatee which is much greyer than what weve seen from him while interviewing Magnas group, which makes sense time-wise to the comics.
Another fan followed: I heard the first one is 12-18 months, while the second is possibly around 5-6 years.

The trailer also shatters all hopes of a Carol and Daryl romance this season after fans noticed two blurry faces cuddled up together, warming up beside a camp fire.
Who do those blurry faces belong to? Carol and… King Ezekiel.
Carol and the king have become closer and closer since his introduction in season seven, while their romance would also follow his path in the comic books.
In the literary series by Robert Kirkman, Ezekiel strikes up a romance with Michonne. However, in the AMC adaptation, Michonne has taken much of Andreas path since her death at the hands of the Governor.
With the trailer also came the bitter announcement from Andrew Lincoln that he has officially quit The Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on October 7 and is expected to follow in the UK a day later.
