Love Island star Georgia Steel has revealed the heartbreaking reason why she finds loyalty so important.

Georgia became known on Love Island for constantly saying the word loyal and describing how faithful she is.

The reason why she values loyalty is because her jockey dad Rodney Lappin left her mum Sharon when she was just a child.

Opening out about her secret pain, Georgia said: I wouldnt wish what has happened to me on anyone.

I had to be strong for my mum, even at the age of four, I was my mums rock, I gave my mum meaning. It has made me stronger, it really has.

If Im honest with you, the whole loyalty thing, that is something my mum has brought me up with. To always be loyal to whoever youre with, she told The Sun.

But she added that the heartbreak made her and her mum Sharon closer and refers to her mums husband Andrew as dad.

Georgia says that her dad did try and make contact with her when she was a teenager, and while she did speak to him, it was like talking to a stranger.

She doesnt know why he left but revealed she feels like he never really stepped up to the mark and [mum] had enough of it.

Georgias dad told The Sun: As her biological father, I am very happy she is doing well and wish her every success and happiness.

Sharon recently spoke about her daughters time in the Love Island villa, and admitted she struggled to watch the scenes when Georgia rowed with the other islanders over that awkward kiss with Jack Fowler.

Sharon said: One of the worst moments for me was when all of the girls went against her and called her a liar. That was bullying. I was so upset, I paced around my living room, up and down past the coffee table, and I was crying.

I was so angry so I decided that I had to call ITV to check that my little girl was OK. They assured me that she was which helped, she added to Mail on Sunday.
