Richard Madden may have won over legions of new fans after playing troubled security guard David Budd in Jed Mercurios high-octane political thriller Bodyguard, but the actor has admitted he prefers to live a more private life.
In a new interview with the Daily Star, the 32-year-old Scottish star revealed that if given the chance, he would bow out of the public eye to escape the pressures of fame.
The actor, who rose to fame playing murdered King in the North Robb Stark in HBO fantasy Game Of Thrones, says he is desperate to swap the spotlight for a secluded getaway in Scotland close to his parents home on the west coast.
Its so gorgeous. I am also my happiest up there. It would be so quiet too.
And while some stars might laud the Hollywood hunk status he has earned, Richard believes it distracts from his talent. He prefers to focus on perfecting his craft.

I worry about it affecting my job, he explained. If people go, “Oh, you know, hes that hunky thing”, that undermines that actually I am an actor.
In BBCs Bodyguard, Richards alter ego is tasked with protecting Home Secretary Julia Montague, played by Line Of Dutys Keeley Hawes. The show became a ratings hit and wiped out ITVs Vanity Fair in comparison.
Richard has since been tipped as a possible contender to become James Bond when Daniel Craig steps down.
