Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker really threw herself into her new starring role, quite literally in this case.

Whittakers first outing as the Doctor aired on Sunday night with the episode The Woman Who Fell To Earth.

At the climax of the episode, Jodies Doctor is seen leaping in mid air between two cranes to save a construction worker from the clutches of an alien.

And Jodie proudly revealed that she didnt use a double for the heart-stopping stunt.

She revealed: The scenes where Im jumping from the crane is all me.

There were times in the series that it needed a professional, but in this instance it didnt need a professional. It needed someone who was daft enough to jump between two cranes.

I absolutely bricked it! This was like three days in. This was like 4 in the morning, week one, and I was trying to be really cool in front of all the crew, so I was like “Yeah yeah Ill do it”. But actually it was amazing.

Jodie said the stunt was euphoric (Picture: Getty Images)

The wonderful thing about the Doctor is, its all about self-belief in so many ways but you dont have these outlandish, other-worldly skills physically.

You have a body like anyone else and it can and cant do certain things.

But that kind of faith to just leap was really euphoric.

She added: Obviously I was on a wire, we were about 60 feet up? I was pretty high.

It was all safe, but it is nervewracking and its not something you do every day.

I love the pride in watching it knowing I did do it all.
