Kate Silvertons performance on Strictly Come Dancing nearly ended in disaster.

Kate dressed up as Jessica Rabbit and performed a foxtrot to Why Dont You Do Right from the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

She made quite the entrance during the live show on Saturday, emerging from behind a curtain in a red wig and dramatic red gown.

Disaster struck as she made her way down the steps, as she stumbled and almost fell on her face.

But she recovered brilliantly, laughing it off, and performed the rest of the routine without a hitch.

Kate apologised to Aljaz Skorjanec, worried that her trip would harm their score.

She said: Im so sorry for that stumble, I was going to do a nice point but you know.

Aljaz added that watching her stumble made him panic.

Viewers at home panicked too but praised the newsreader for carrying on like a pro.

Kate looks great. Hope that little stumble on the stairs doesnt put her off. #Strictly

The judges were floored by their foxtrot despite the trip at the start.

Darcey Bussell said: I absolutely loved it! The way you maintained the control of a very difficult foxtrot.

Kate and Aljaz got a score of 29, and are sitting in sixth place on the leaderboard below comedian Seann Walsh and his partner Katya Jones with a score of 30.

However it was Faye Tozer and Giovanni Pernice who stole the show with their quickstep to Youre The One That I Want from Grease.

Judge Shirley Ballas called it the best quickstep Ive seen on Strictly.
