Robbie Williams has casually infuriated the entire One Direction fandom after saying his X Factor act are leaps and bounds ahead of them.

The 44-year-old singer was full of praise for his act United Vibe, who performed Niall Horans Slow Hands in the first live show.

Ayda Field, however, took the opportunity to throw some shade at her husband Robbie – taking a pop over his history with quitting Take That.

After the performance, Ayda said: You guys just got together. I thought that was a great song choice and you know what, you guys get on really well which is important.

The worst thing in a group is when one person thinks theyre better than everybody else.

With all four judges sharing awkward glances, Robbie decided to divert the shade onto One Direction member Louis Tomlinson.

Robbie said: I feel like a proud dad. I dont know what these two are on about.

In the early days of Take That when wed been together for a month or six weeks, however long it is that youre together now, you are leaps and bounds beyond us.

And also youre leaps and bounds beyond One Direction at this point.

Listen girls, get on board, these boys are going places. Go with them.

And just like that, an entire fandom erupted into overdrive.

nobody will ever be better than 1d y'all just have to deal with that fact. #XFactor
