Eamonn Holmes bravely revealed how panic attacks left him in hospital during todays This Morning.

The 58-year-old presenter opened up about his past mental health ordeals that even struck when he was live on air.

He revealed: Ive had a number of panic attacks, thank goodness all 27 or something years ago now.

Recalling them, he said: I thought I was going to die. My coping strategy eventually was “Im not going to die.” I would never have associated it with a mental problem.

I think looking back at it, it was the result of the sudden death of my father and not being able to say goodbye to him.

He added: It happened once on air and it doesnt get much worse than that, trying to cover it up. Both times I was hospitalised from it, but yet its never come back.

Eamonns comments came during a brutally honest conversation about panic and anxiety attacks with guest Sophie Mei Lan, who vlogs her breakdowns.

Mum Sophie, who once auditioned on Britains Got Talent as a belly dancer, has been documenting her struggles with motherhood so other parents know they arent alone.

The first time I vlogged was during a psychotic episode, she explained. I was suffering from paranoia.

I started to document them because it made me see whilst I was suicidal, there was a way out. I can see how Ive been there before, but I can get through it.

Fans praised Eamonn and Sophie for being so open about their traumatic experiences.

One person wrote: Well done Sophie Mei Lan on #ThisMorning talking openly about panic attacks and psychosis, highlighting the barriers to accessing support as a parent.

Wonderful #anxiety awareness on @thismorning from @emmakennytv and @MamaMeiBlog showing how @ChannelMum can help all mums (and dads) who are suffering alone with mental health, commented another.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
